There was much preparation to get ready for this year's Oktoberfest at Christ the King in Flint. Many hands were needed to parepare the food, set up tables and chairs, build the bon fire and get the barbeque ready.
It was almost too warm to think about celebrating the October harvest. Things were prepared and the day was a delight for everyone. Friends gathered, and vistors came to enjoy friendship, fun and fellowship.
There was so much food! Everyone contributed their favorite German dish including German potato salad using a recipe given by a women from Frankenmuth; bratwurst; and beer. And the desserts! Wow!
As part of the festivities and add to the fall flavor of an Oktoberfest, some of those attending the event went to Wolcott's to enjoy a hay ride. It was fun being pulled around the property on the back of a hay wagon. Everyone was so busy talking that it seemed like the hay ride was over in an instant.
The day ended with a beautiful bon fire on the back of the church's property. There was much to burn from the recent clean-up that occurred with the help of some dedicated workers from St. Lorenz in Frankenmuth.
