Whom We Serve

Deaf and Hard of Hearing

We are currently serving Deaf and hard of hearing throughout Michigan, Windsor, and Macau, China through the efforts of ELMS' missionary, Pr. Thomas Dunseth.

Deaf Congregations

Two Deaf churches are currently meeting every Sunday: Our Savior Lutheran Church of the Deaf meeting in the Chapel of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Birmingham and Christ the King Lutheran Church of th Deaf meeting in Flint.

Interpreted Services

Additionally, two churches, Resurrection Lutheran in East Pointe and Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word in Rochester Hills, have moved to support ELMS and have interepted services one Sunday a month. Other churches also have interpreted services throughout our state. This list is in our groups section. Others

Families

We continue to reach out to Deaf children and their families to help enhance communication through sign language as well as improve the reading and math skills of these precious children. We are using the Shared Reading Program developed by Gallaudet University to accomplish this goal.

Women's Ministry

With our Deaconess Intern a new Women's Ministry is getting started. A women's Bible study is being held at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer the first Sunday of the month, and a Vacation Bible School will be held this summer in Flint. Additional programs will be initiated in the future.
